Let me start by saying I had never played Pickleball before getting this paddle, but my dad plays and I wanted to give it a shot. I was a tennis player back in the day so I thought this might be a fun game to play. Boy is it different than tennis! All that aside, this is a VERY nice paddle. My dad said the game is not nearly as loud with this paddle and he will probably order one of these for himself. I let him use it during the game and he really liked it too. The quality is excellent, the paddle has a really nice hand feel, it’s got a decent weight to it and the surface of the paddle worked very well for this amateur and even better for my dad who has played the game often. We were both able to get a nice spin to the ball, which my dad said is not usually that easy to do in this game. The little carbon eraser that comes with this set did a good job erasing the marks from the ball, and the cover is of great quality too. I think the price point is good for the quality of this paddle. Serious players will appreciate this one!

I have played pickleball for many years, and have many paddles and sets. I continue to look for a paddle that allows me to have good control, spin, and power. This MAX5 paddle works really well for me. It comes in a well-protected box, includes the paddle, protective cover, and surface eraser (it works really well to remove ball marks from the paddle surface). The paddle weighs in at 8.2 oz, which is a great compromise weight for both control and power for advanced players. It is 5/8″ thick (not including edge band), 16-1/2″ long, with a 5″ handle, about the same as my current paddle. But I get better spin and power with this racket due to the surface texture. The handle is very comfortable, with an octagon shape that fits well in my hand. The edge banding is wide, and this surprised me that it was raised over the playing surface. but it doesn’t affect my play. This is a reasonable price for a high-end paddle, and I expect to get many years of enjoyable and competitive play with it.

The quick review – Nicely packaged, high performing paddle, priced a little high.
The details.
Weight – 8.25Oz. Good for me, but ladies may like a little lighter, especially in a long body shape.
Shape – As noted above this is a narrower longer shape. This provides extra reach and power, at the cost of narrower sweet spot and slower movement side to side.
Surface – textured raw carbon for high spin production.
Grip – Slightly longer than usual, which is helpful for two handed backhand.
Performance – this performs as expected for a modern carbon surface paddle. Good spin and power with adequate
control.
Looks and packaging – Very nice and professional. Includes a cover and paddle cleaner.
Market segment – This is not from a big name. A similar big name paddle could cost double or triple. This is also not from a generic Chinese company that uses a string of random letters for their brand name. Those paddles are normally under $50. This paddle sits some where in between. Professionally designed in the US, but not from the big names. I think they might want to consider a $25 coupon, as some nice paddles from proven companies can be had for around the same price.
